More Babyfood!

So, in trying to keep myself busy and my mind off of everything that's going on I made about a 100 gallons of baby food. I sure hope Dillon is hungry! He is in between being on purees and eating finger foods. He will eat finger foods but not enough to get nutrition from them. He'll eat purees but he's ready for more than simple purees... He also LOVES flavor. So, despite the fact that I said it was easier NOT to make mixes and just combine cubes I decided Dillon need a little more variety than combining simple purees. I started off with some purees and then thought of ways to mix it up and add flavor.

For information on how I make my purees please click HERE.

Purees I made:

  • Prunes
  • Apricots
  • Veggie Mix

*Dillon isn't a fan of green veggies at the moment, so I've got to make these more appealing somehow... I decided to start off with the veggie mix because I thought it would be more flavorful (carrots, green beans, peas and lima beans from a frozen bag mix)

  • Strawberries

*If you cook them the allergen risk goes down which is why you see it in commercial baby food)

  • Spinach

*I put a little bit of of the reserved strawberry juice in them too from when I cooked the strawberries because I figured spinach might be a bit of a strong flavor for him.

  • Mango
  • Avocado
  • Cherries

*From frozen so I wouldn't have to pit them

  • Blueberries
  • Peaches

*From frozen

  • Pears
  • Apples

*Added some Cinnamon

  • Squash

Added a pinch of brown sugar when baking and Cinnamon. Yes I know you aren't supposed to add sugar but I want him to EAT it and I controlled the amount, which wasn't much. Adding brown sugar to the baking process really brings out the flavor and I plan on mixing in the veggie mix in some of the batches so this will help me sneak some green in :)

  • Zucchini

I put all of the purees into Tupperware containers and into the fridge.

Then I cooked up:

  • Ground Turkey

*I sauted it with some olive oil and rosemary

  • Chicken

*Cooked it up with Italian seasonings and chopped in the food processor

  • Organic Brown Rice Pilaf mix with seasonings

*A box mix, I figured it would add nice flavor for him

Combos I made:

  • Turkey and garden veggie mix w/rice pilaf
  • Peachy Mango Chicken
  • Strawberry Banana
  • Banacado
  • Spinach/Strawberry
  • Squash and rice pilaf

*Much more strawberry than spinach. Got the idea from strawberry spinach salad, which I love

  • Strawberry Banana
  • Prunes & Chicken
  • Apricot glazed turkey
  • Pear/Apple Chicken
  • Pear Apple Sauce
  • Apple Banana
  • Pear Berry
  • Berry Cherry

*Strawberry/Blueberry/Cherry

  • Garden Veggie Mix

*Squash, Zucchini & the mixed veggies.

I also froze some cubes without mixing - like prunes and other fruits so I'd have them to mix into yogurt or Oatmeal on their own. Wherever I thought I could get away with it I threw a spoonful of the veggie or spinach mix. Even into some of the fruit purees, shhhhhh!
